People's feelings come from light and weather, and different seasons give the garden a different look. When the sun's afterglow falls, the natural light gradually disappears, and the beautiful scenery of the park needs landscape lighting to present.

According to different landscape elements, the park can be divided into hard landscape and soft landscape, which is the mutual integration between human and natural landscape. Hardscapes often use flood lighting and transparent interior lighting, such as landscape walls and sketches in parks. Soft landscapes use more light projection, underwater lighting and linear lighting.

Park landscape lighting design plays a role in creating an atmosphere and meeting the needs of basic lighting functions. First, it meets the traffic brightness requirements of the park road; second, it enhances the tour route and visual effects by comparing the lighting of trees, landscape stones, buildings and structures on the road.

The common method of park landscape lighting design is partial projection. For example, vegetation can use more light projection methods, such as downward projection, upward projection, and side projection. Sometimes the light passing through the leaves from the bottom up makes the tree glow, emphasizing the texture and form; sometimes mimics the influence of the sun or moon, casting the shadow of the leaves on the ground from top to bottom; sometimes the light is cast from the side to project some branches and leaves, the sparse outline of vegetation is thrown onto the wall, etc. This depends on the distribution characteristics of the vegetation on the ground.

Park lighting design also uses landscape lights to meet the needs of functional lighting and landscaping, uses floodlights to illuminate plants or water features, uses color changing lights to design fountains and rockery with color changing effects, and uses interactive lights to attract people in unique locations.
